Trail Boss: Rick Montez
Note from Rick:
At the November meeting I mentioned I would get a snow run organized for Saturday February 9th on the Mormon Emigrant Trail outside of Pollock Pines. Hopefully there is some club members that would like to join in the fun. I know this conflicts with King Of The Hammers and is 2 weeks after Winter Fun Fest so there may not be a large turn out but I still want to give it a go. The plan is for a 1 day out and back run, leave our rally point in Pollock Pines at 8am and drive to the snow. We'll stop at 11:30 for 30 minute lunch and head back.
Pollock Pines is a nice little town with a Starbucks (in the Safeway), a few restaurants and bars and gas stations (with diesel fuel) and 2 motels, The West Haven Inn (looks a little worse for wear) and a Best Western, that's where I made my reservation ($129). If you don't want to hang out in a small town the next bigger one is Placerville which is about 13 miles West.
I'll get the details together in another email with a map but in general I want to meet at the Safeway in Polluck pines (corner of Sly Park Rd. and Pony Express) 7:30-7:45, leave at 8am sharp and drive on Sly Park Rd for 4.5 miles and then turn left on Mormon Emigrant Trail Rd. and stay on that until we hit snow. I will drive up there the weekend before and scout things out as well.
