Work on your rig weekend (10 minutes my $#@*)

As some of us knew, some minor modifications were required... But the good news is...  There were a number of things fixed this weekend!!!

1) my cage is in!  And the top fits great!  Many thanks to Mike, Tom, Steve, Connie, Lorrie, and Ellen for their help!!!

2) Steve replaced some rotting wood on his roof carrier.  Nice job by Steve, Tom, Ellen, and probably others...

3) Mike replaced a shock which is going back under warranty.

4) Ellen and Connie torqued their U-bolts.  Connie's in particular were pretty loose.  They should not be suffering from a center pin break on trail!

5) Ellen and Connie also have a list of items to look at on their jeeps.

Tom and CJ showed up and lent more than just moral support.  CJ wished he had his jeep but he has so much money now it is off having a laundry list of things done to it by a professional shop!!!  Tom has some projects in the works but just drove his car left just before lunch.

I had a great time and am really excited about the new cage.  I got some other little things done, like painting some rust spots on the jeep and oiling the hinges on my rear door (Thanks Ellen!)

Work on your RIG weekend

ED4 members Ed & Ray invited members & even prospective members to come to their shops in Modesto to do work on our rigs & to campout for the weekend. I arrived mid morning Saturday. Ed & Ray’s shops were only 1 door apart and between them they had 9 lifts I think. Ed had asked people coming to give them an idea of what they wanted to do on their rig and had ordered things at cost for people to install / use on or in their vehicles. I had decided to do an LOF & tranny/trans case/diff fluid changes + install rear tow hooks on my ‘70 Bronco. When a lift opened up in Ray’s shop I was invited to pull on in & had the special treat of being able to walk around under my rig & see what I was working on. Ray had 2 of his employees working to help us out. Also members helped each other out. Ira & Tom helped me by removing & straightening out the skidplate under tranny/trans case. Ira was wounded by the skidplate but shrugged it off by saying he wasn’t working if he wasn’t bleeding. By late afternoon most people were done with work for the day & we enjoyed a nice potluck meal, special thanks to Tom for being head BBQer.

Ed had parked his motorhome behind his shop for people to sleep in & others slept in their own rigs or in Ed’s shop. I tented out in the lot with my dog.

In the AM some more work was done on some rigs & everyone thanked Ed & Ray for hosting such a nice weekend. It was great to get things checked out on my rig & get ready for 4wheeling. It was also lots of fun to get to work with others & get to know ED4 members. What a great group!
