Moonlight Madness

On the 26th of June several of us from the ED4 club went to the the Moonlight Madness night run. This is held up at the Bald Mountain trail, which is above Shaver Lake. John Skier and Lisa came up on friday, Phil Reinders, My son Paul and I arrived on saturday. We enjoyed a great dinner put on by The Clovis Independant 4 Wheelers. After a driver meeting and added rules by the forestry department, we started lining up for our departure. Left camp about 7:15-7:30pm and returned back to camp at 2:05am. I just want to say once again I was not disappointed by the run. The event is sold out every year with a limit of 100 vehicles on trail. The run went very smooth and we came away with no problems. There were a couple of vehicles that went over on thier sides, but were righted and continued on. The members of the host club are very knowledgable about the spotting if just ask them, they will get you through without incident. they also do not push advise on anyone. Even though the moon was not full, it still had an awesome presence. Paul and I left around 8:30 for the return trip home. As always there was a pile of raffle items, but we did not stay. The pressing reason for not staying was, I bought another Bronco and we needed to drive it back to San Jose. We arrived back in San Jose around 5:15 sunday afternoon without any problems at all.

I hope that some of our other club members will consider putting this run on the calender for next year.

Sincerly, your trail Boss for Moonlight Madness 2005 Darell
