Adopt-a-Trail Part 1

Report: Sherry Stortroen
Forest Serice Contacts, Jeff Hilson, Aaron James and Alison Nilsen: Please use the following as my Report to the Forest Service of Club's Adopt-a-trail(s) weekend.

*Highway 4 sign for 7N09 turn-off is missing.
*Camping concerns: We had a few volunteers camp for the weekend at Black Springs Campground that received notes (Friday, June 7) from a ranger stating fee is required or they would be cited. We thought that because our group were volunteering to help with the Adopt-a-trail(s) fees wouldn't be required. I don't want any volunteer/camper to be cited. Would it be possible to work something out for this year and future Adopt-a-trail weekend? Please let me know what I need to do to make this right and to make sure no one is cited.

Friday, June 7, 2024, Bailey Ridge and Corral Hollow Trails: Volunteers worked 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
We split group into two groups. Due to some of our vehicles being green sticker/non-street legal that group took Bailey Ridge Trail to access Corral Hollow Trail. We had 13 Volunteers as follows: Ole Stortroen; Jason Green, Wayne Luedtka; Darrell Drummer; Aubrey Drummer; Daniel Vella; Sherry Stortroen; Stefanie Arnesen, CJ Arnesen; Will Macaluso; Kara Hanruhan; David Lu; Rod Littleton. (My apology for any misspellings.)

Bailey Ridge Trail. Cleared 28 downed trees.
Corral Hollow Trail. Cleared 27 downed trees; Total 55 downed trees cleared from trails on Friday, June 7.

Bailey Ridge Trail is open.
Corral Hollow Trail is not completely open. Trail conditions mostly good, encountered a few muddy areas near and around the Hunter's cabin, but passible.

Saturday, June 8, 2024, Mattley Loop and Ridge Trail. Volunteers worked 9:20 a.m.-3 p.m.
We split group split into two group to work the trail. Group cleared 45 downed trees. We had 16 Volunteers as follows: Daniel Vella; Jason Green; Sherry Stortroen; Dolly Hanna, Eric Hanna, Wayne Luedtka; Michale Geiger; Kelly Tran; Darrell Drummer; Aubrey Drummer; Rod Littleton; CJ Arnesen; Will Macaluso; Bob Lockwood; Dishaan Ahuja; David Lu.
(Again my apology for misspellings).

Ridge part of Mattley trail is open; Loop near 7N09 too much snow (GPS Coordinates 38.45540,-120.33374); and we ran out of time. Hopefully club members can arrange for date to complete work needed to open the Loop portion of trail. Our group of hardworking volunteers cleared a total of 100 downed trees over the weekend.

Sign-in Sheets for both dates and Volunteer Service Agreement forms are being mailed to your office. Let me know if anything else is needed to make sure both clubs are current with their Adopt-a-trail(s) agreements. Please let me know what we can do about the camping situation. Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Sherry Stortroen
